Volunteer

Please continue to check the Volunteer Calendar for future scheduling opportunities both on our construction sites and special events throughout the season.

HfHBC is a volunteer-powered organization. Our volunteers make it possible for the mission of building decent, affordable homes for hardworking Bergen County families to become a reality.

Anyone can become a volunteer.  Construction skills are not required, in fact our Director of Construction begins each day's activities with instruction in the safe operation of tools and use of materials.  In addition our website contains a "Registration and Orientation" section which covers key safety practices.

We need your help to keep building homes for hard-working families.

New Volunteers

Please complete visit our Volunteer Opportunities Calendar and click any "Sign Up" button where you would like to volunteer. If you have not registered on this site before, you will be asked to complete a quick volunteer registration.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to work on the construction site. Volunteers younger than 16 are encouraged to join our Youth United Program.

Returning Volunteers

Using your login, visit the Volunteer Opportunities Calendar to schedule your volunteer day by clicking on any "Sign Up" button.

Groups

• Groups are limited to 6-15 group members.
• Have the leader for your group visit our Volunteer Opportunities Calendar. Click the "I am scheduling my group" button at the top. Next click on any "Sign Up" button where your group would like to volunteer. If you have not registered before, you will be asked to complete the volunteer registration. If you do not have any volunteer groups already on our system, you will be asked to provide a group name and a few details about your group.
• Add group members to your group, or provide them with your Group Share Code (provided after you "Sign Up" for a date) so that your group members can register and get the files they need (Pledge & Waiver).
• Have each group member review our Volunteer Pledge Campaign & print and sign  the Liability Waiver prior to the volunteer date.

We also have opportunities for volunteers to provide lunch or snacks for construction volunteers.  If you are interested in this we have a section on our Volunteer Calendar for you to choose what day and which site.

You have to be at least 16 years old to work on the construction site.   You MUST be on the construction schedule prior to coming out to the jobsites, please do not show up at the work site without notice.
